AuroraTech Consultants continued to strengthen its connections with Finland’s research community and business sector during a visit by CEO Dr. Mohamed Gad to Helsinki, Oulu and Tampere. The visit focused on research collaboration, technology development and opportunities to apply AuroraTech’s expertise in hydrogeology, geophysics, water management and digital technologies.
Research and scientific innovation are central to AuroraTech’s work. With its office located at Technopolis in Oulu, near the University of Oulu, the company is actively developing relationships with Finnish research institutions, technology organizations and industry partners.
During the visit, Dr. Mohamed Gad and Business Development Director Carolina M. Ahlstrand met with representatives of several key Finnish organizations, including VTT, Business Finland, Tampere University and the University of Oulu.
Strengthening Connections with Finland’s Research and Business Community
At VTT, the delegation met with Jussi Manninen to discuss areas of mutual interest. Discussions with Business Finland representatives Jussi Åkerberg and Tessa Skinner focused on the Finnish and Saudi Arabian markets and potential opportunities for business development.
These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on technological innovation, international business opportunities and the development of connections between Finland and Saudi Arabia.
Exploring Emerging Technologies with Tampere University
The visit also included meetings with research groups at Tampere University, including TerraGeo. One area of interest was nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology, which offers potential applications in construction and infrastructure assessment.
Building on the experience of its parent company, Technical Development Solutions (TDS), in assessments for major infrastructure projects, AuroraTech sees opportunities to explore how advanced measurement technologies can support engineering applications and infrastructure development.
Advancing Opportunities in Mining and Geosciences in Oulu
The University of Oulu and its Oulu Mining School are important potential partners for AuroraTech, particularly in view of developments in the mining sector and the growing need for advanced subsurface assessment technologies.
AuroraTech’s expertise includes hydrogeological and geological assessments, as well as the mapping of underground structures using drone-based electromagnetic measurements. These capabilities can support the investigation of subsurface conditions and contribute to more informed decision-making in mining, infrastructure and environmental projects.
Exploring Research Opportunities in Water Science and Digitalisation
The University of Oulu’s Digital Waters Flagship (DIWA) is another area of strong interest for AuroraTech. Building on its experience in complex water-related projects across different countries, the company is exploring opportunities to contribute its expertise and technologies to research and practical applications suited to Finland’s distinctive environmental conditions.
Potential areas of common interest include hydrological monitoring, water resource assessment, advanced data analysis and digital solutions for water management.
Looking Ahead
The visit to Finland provided valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop professional relationships and explore potential areas of cooperation across research, technology, and industry.
AuroraTech looks forward to continuing its engagement with Finland’s research and business communities and exploring opportunities to translate scientific expertise and innovative technologies into practical solutions for water, the environment, mining and infrastructure.
